The checkered flag has been waved and a winner has been declared in the Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge. The competition was fierce and Here at Heart City Toyota Scion, we were following the contest closely to see who would emerge victorious and claim the $50,000 prize.
If you are unfamiliar with the Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge, let us fill you in.
At the 2012 SEMA Show, Toyota pitted four NASCAR drivers against each other and asked them to see who could take an existing new Toyota model and transform it into a one-of-a-kind car. The racer's finished products were shown off on Facebook and the winner was chosen by popular vote.
Competing in this year's challenge was Kyle Busch, Clint Bowyer, Alexis DeJoria and Antron Brown. Kyle Busch entered a Toyota Camry that he called "Rowdy." Bowyer produced a "Tekked Out" Toyota Prius. DeJoria and Brown the NHRA drivers came up with a Pre-Runner Toyota Tundra and a drag racer made from a Toyota Sequoia.
Countless hours were spent with full access to new Toyota parts by all the teams. Only one driver could come out on top, and the Winner of the Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge was the Camry named "Rowdy" designed by Kyle Busch.
While celebrating his big win, Busch said, "We appreciate Toyota's support, everybody that's been a part of this program, all my friends here, all my competitors that we had to go up against and my friends at Detroit Speed for building such as awesome piece"1 He also announced that the prize money would be going to the Kyle Busch Foundation which supports a wide range of youth outreach programs.
