Toyota wants its largely American-made 2012 Camry to earn a perfect five-star governmental crash-test rating. As such the Japanese automaker has loaded all new 2012 Toyota Camry models, including the entry-level trim, with 10 airbags, including all-new front-passenger knee airbags and class-leading rear outboard seat-mounted  torso-protecting airbags.

Important for young families:  The innovative new, rear outboard seat-mounted torso-protecting airbags feature a special profile and design that's compatible with child seats. This eliminates the deactivation necessary in some luxury cars that offer the side-torso airbags as an add-on...Did we say that they're standard in the Camry?

In addition to upping the number of standard airbags to 10, Toyota took a lot of other measures to fortify the Camry and further protect occupants in crash scenarios.  For example, by strengthening the floor and reinforcing pillars and doors, Toyota has significantly improved the sedan's resilience to frontal impact. By adding overlapping box-and-gusset structures, they've made the sides more durable. And thanks to the use of higher-strength steel, the Japanese automaker has strengthened the roof, too.

2012 Toyota Camry Standard Safety Features At a Glance

-    10 Standard airbags
-    Electronic stability control
-    Four-wheel disc brakes with Brake Assist
-    SmartStop system - reduces engine power when the gas pedal and brake pedal are pushed at the same time

In addition to a full suite of standard safety features, the 2012 Toyota Camry will, for the first time ever, offer drivers Blind Spot Monitor Technology. Just as the name implies the system detects and warns drivers about nearby objects larger than a 125 cc motorcycle with a speed of 18 mph.

Having covered safety, let's talk about price, shall we? Heart City Toyota Scion, serving the greater Elkhart area is very excited to tell you all trim levels, with exception to the base-level, will have a lower MSRP than the 2011 range. To put this into better perspective, Cars.com says, "The trim levels that Toyota expects to sell in the highest volumes - the LE and SE - are priced at $200 and $965 lower, respectively, than the 2011 models they replace."1
